Meet Jeanette “JJ”
Jeanette arrived in the US in September of 2013 and started working for Southpaw soon after her paperwork went through. Jeanette also worked at a nearby Shoprite in the mornings but wanted a second job where she could work in the afternoons. However, Jeanette needed a job near Shoprite that coordinated with her husband’s schedule to avoid a long commute home on foot.
We’re happy to report that the nearby Dunkin’ (a 1 minute walk from Shoprite) was the perfect solution!
Jeanette was hired as crew member and was promoted to shift leader 18 months later. After just one more month, Jeanette became an assistant manager. In 2016, Jeanette was promoted to the manager of our Northeast Dunkin’ locations, and she has excelled in that role ever since.
Though Jeanette initially applied to Dunkin’ for a more convenient schedule, she stayed for the people and the work atmosphere. “Southpaw makes you feel you are family,” she says. “[It’s a place of] respect, togetherness, love, patience, and kindness. I could tell straight away that this company takes care of everyone! They accept new, brighter ideas and they listen to every response.”
Jeanette continues to work at both Shoprite and Dunkin’ and maintains a schedule that works for her. Eventually, she cut back on her Shoprite hours to focus on her position as Dunkin’ manager.
The greatest lesson she’s learned from her work at Southpaw? “Never forget where you started and appreciate how far you’ve come,” Jeanette says. “[Working for Southpaw has been] a great learning experience and [it’s] a great place to work for.”
Jeanette is an incredible manager and we at Southpaw are so glad to have her on our team! We’re glad to be able to support Jeanette in her goals as well.
